How to get a motorcycle license in 2025 – everything you need to know

How to get a motorcycle license in 2025 – everything you need to know

Spring is almost here and it’s time to start planning for your motorcycle season 2025. For those of you who do not yet have a motorcycle license but dream of cruising on two wheels, we have compiled a guide to help you on your way to your long-awaited motorcycle license. We cover everything from applying for a license to the driving test, and provide tips on what to consider regarding equipment.

Step 1: Apply for a driving permit

Before you can start your motorcycle journey, you need a valid driving permit. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Go to the Transport Agency's website and fill out the application.

  2. Book an appointment for a vision test with an optician.

  3. Submit the application along with your vision test.

A valid driving permit is valid for 5 years and is required for practicing driving.

Step 2: Practice driving and training

Once you have received your permit, you can start practicing. Follow these steps:

  • Private practice driving: If you are going to practice privately, both you and your instructor need to take an instructor course.

  • Driving school: Driving schools offer professional guidance and know everything required to pass the driving test.

  • Practice driving vest: A reflective vest is mandatory during private practice driving. You can buy Held MC Practice Driving Reflective Vest from us at Gregmoto.

Step 3: Knowledge test and driving test

To obtain your motorcycle license, you need to pass two tests:

  1. Knowledge test: A theory test where you demonstrate that you understand traffic rules and motorcycle safety.

  2. Driving test: A practical test where you demonstrate your ability to handle the motorcycle.

Tips for success:

  • Practice a lot on balance and maneuvering.

  • Familiarize yourself with traffic rules and how to handle different traffic situations.

The right equipment – an important investment

Safety and comfort are essential when it comes to motorcycle riding. Here is a list of the equipment you need:

  • Helmet: A CE-approved helmet is mandatory.

  • Jacket and pants: Motorcycle clothing with protection for shoulders, elbows, and knees.

  • Gloves: Gloves with knuckle protection are both comfortable and safe.

  • Boots: Motorcycle boots with reinforced soles and ankle protection.

  • Reflective vest: Important during practice driving and for increased visibility.

All these products are available for purchase at Gregmoto.se or in our store in Staffanstorp. You can find the store's address and opening hours here.
